Short version: PATGo keeps your test records on your phone. If you sign in, a copy is kept in PATGo's cloud, in London, so you can get it back on another phone. I don't sell anything about you, there are no adverts, and there's no tracking.
Your records are yours. I hold them so the app can keep them safe and put them back on your phone. I don't read them, share them or use them for anything else. You can take everything out of PATGo whenever you like, and ask me to delete it.
Who's responsible
PATGo is run by Peter Birchley, a sole trader in the UK trading as PATGo. I'm responsible for the personal details this page describes. For anything on this page, email hello@patgo.co.uk or peter@patgo.co.uk.
On your phone
The PATGo app keeps everything you record — jobs, appliances, results, photos, clients, sites, test instruments, settings and certificates — on the phone itself. Deleting the app from your phone deletes that copy. Backup files go only where you choose to save them.
The app goes online to check for a new version of itself. It doesn't load anything from anyone else, and it has no adverts, analytics or tracking.
In the cloud, if you sign in
When you sign in to a PATGo account, the app copies your work to PATGo's cloud and keeps the two in step. This is what the cloud holds:
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Your email address, and your password (stored scrambled, so nobody — including me — can read it) | To sign you in, and to email you sign-in codes and password resets |
| Your Google address, name and profile picture link, if you connect Google | So Continue with Google can sign you in |
| Your jobs, appliance records, test results and photos | So they're safe if your phone is lost, and can come back on another phone |
| Your clients and sites, test instruments, item presets, report settings (including any logo and signature you add) and other settings | The same — so your set-up follows you |
| Your plan and trial dates | To know what your account includes |
| For each phone you sign in on: a private id the app makes up, which version of the app it's running, and when it last checked in | To keep syncing safe — older versions of the app are treated more carefully |
The cloud is provided by Supabase and stored in their London data centre. The connection is encrypted, and the database is set up so each account can only reach its own records.
As the person running PATGo I can technically see what's in the database. I only look when you ask me to help with a problem, or when I need to in order to keep the service working.
When team accounts arrive, the owner, team leaders and office staff of a business you join will be able to see the jobs you do for that business. Until then, every account is on its own.
Your customers' details
Your jobs can hold your customers' names, sites and addresses. For that information, you're in charge of it and I look after it on your behalf: I only keep it, sync it and delete it as the app and this page describe. If your business needs written terms for that, email me.
Why I'm allowed to hold it
- Your account and your records — because you've asked me to provide PATGo to you, and I can't do that without them.
- The phone and version details — because I have a genuine need to keep syncing safe and working, and they say nothing about you beyond that.
- The mailing list — because you asked to join it. You can leave whenever you like.
Who else handles it
A small number of companies do part of the work for me. Each only gets what it needs for its job:
- Supabase — the cloud database and photo storage, in London.
- Resend — sends PATGo's emails, such as sign-in codes and password resets. It gets your email address and the message.
- Google — only if you use Continue with Google or Connect Google. Google tells PATGo your Google address, name and profile picture link; PATGo doesn't keep anything else from Google.
- Cloudflare and GitHub — host the app's own files, the way any website is hosted. Like any website, they see the internet address your phone connects from.
- DreamHost — hosts this website.
- Formspree — handles the sign-up form on this website (see below).
Some of these companies are based in the US. Where details leave the UK, they're protected by the safeguards UK law requires, such as the UK–US data bridge or the company's standard contract terms. I don't pass your details to anyone else, unless the law requires me to.
PATGo doesn't take payments yet. Before it does, this page will be updated to say how payments are handled.
How long I keep it
- Jobs and their photos in the cloud — 7 years, then they're deleted. That's a year beyond the six years a claim can usually be brought, so your records are there if you ever need them.
- If your subscription ends — the app keeps working for 7 days, then it stops taking new jobs and certificates, but everything you've done still opens and exports. If you don't renew within 90 days of it ending, your account and its cloud records are deleted. I'll warn you first and give you the chance to export everything.
- If you ask me to close your account — I'll delete it and everything in the cloud within 30 days. Copies in the cloud provider's short-term backups expire on their own soon after.
- On your phone — until you delete them or delete the app. Closing your account doesn't touch your phone.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask me to show you what I hold about you, correct it, delete it, hand it over in a form you can take elsewhere, or stop using it. Email me and I'll do it — no forms, no argument. Most of it you can do yourself: Export everything in the app gives you all your records, and your account details are on the Account page.
If you're unhappy with how I've handled something, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. I'd appreciate the chance to put it right first.
Closing your account
Email hello@patgo.co.uk or peter@patgo.co.uk from the address you sign in with, and say you'd like your account closed. I'll confirm, delete it within 30 days, and tell you when it's done. Export anything you want to keep first.
Bug reports and feedback
Reporting a problem from inside the app opens your own email app with a message already written. It carries your app version, phone type, settings and counts — never your customers' names, sites or asset numbers — and you can read and change it before you send it. I keep what you send for as long as it's useful for fixing the problem.
This website and the mailing list
The sign-up form on this website asks for your email address and, if you like, what you use now. Formspree passes it to me and keeps a copy in my account there; their own privacy terms are at formspree.io/legal/privacy-policy. I use it only to tell you about PATGo, and occasionally to ask what you think.
To come off the list, use the unsubscribe link in any email I send, or email hello@patgo.co.uk with "unsubscribe" in the subject. I'll take you off within a few days and delete your details.
Cookies
This website doesn't set any cookies, and there's no analytics or tracking on it. The PATGo app stores your records and, if you sign in, your sign-in on your phone — that's how it works offline. Nothing in it tracks you.
Changes to this page
If anything here changes in a way that matters, I'll update this page and its date, and tell signed-in users in the app.
