Terms of Service
Last updated: 21-10-2026
The short version. PATGo is £6 a month or £60 a year, after a 30-day free trial with no card. You can cancel at any time and keep using it to the end of what you've paid for. Your records are always yours: if you stop paying you can still open, export and delete them. You're responsible for the testing you do — PATGo records it.
1. Who we are
PATGo is run by Peter Birchley, a sole trader trading as PATGo ("we", "us"). Our address is Unit 14, Hardys Bussiness Park, Newark, NG24 3SD. You can reach us at hello@patgo.co.uk or peter@patgo.co.uk.
These terms are between us and you, the person or business that uses PATGo ("you"). By creating an account or using PATGo you agree to them.
2. Your account
- PATGo is for people using it in their trade or business — PAT engineers and testing firms. It isn't sold to consumers.
- One account is for one person. Please don't share your sign-in with anyone else.
- Keep your password safe, and tell us straight away if you think someone else has used your account.
- Give us an email address that works — it's how you sign in and how we reach you about your account.
- You're responsible for what is logged and issued from your account.
3. Free trial
A new account gets a 30-day free trial with everything included. We don't ask for a card to start it, and nothing is charged when it ends. If you don't subscribe by the end of the trial, the account works for 7 more days and then stops new jobs, logging and new certificates, as described in section 6.
4. Price and paying
- PATGo costs £6 a month or £60 a year. We aren't registered for VAT, so no VAT is added.
- We may agree a different price with you individually (for example, for people who helped test PATGo). Anything agreed that way is shown on your invoices and billing page.
- Payments are taken by Stripe, our payment provider, by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. We never see or store your full card details.
- Your plan renews automatically at the end of each month or year until you cancel. The payment is taken on the renewal date.
- If we change the price, we'll tell you at least 30 days before it applies. The new price starts at your next renewal after that, and you can cancel before then if you don't want to continue.
- If a payment fails, Stripe will try again over the following days. If it still can't be taken, your plan is treated as unpaid (section 6).
5. Cancelling and refunds
- You can cancel at any time from the billing page (Settings → Account & Sync → Subscription in the app), or by emailing us.
- When you cancel, your plan carries on until the end of the period you've already paid for, then stops renewing. We don't refund part-used months or years.
- Annual plans: if you change your mind, you can have a full refund of your first annual payment if you ask within 14 days of it being taken. This doesn't apply to later renewals.
- If we end the service, or close your account for reasons that aren't your fault, we'll refund the unused part of what you've paid.
- Refunds go back to the card or account you paid with, normally within 10 days of being agreed.
Nothing in this section takes away any right you have under the law.
6. If you stop paying
If your trial ends or your plan isn't renewed, PATGo keeps working for 7 days and counts them down. After that, your account is locked: you can't start new jobs, log items or make new certificates, but every job you have still opens, exports and deletes — we never hold your records back. Paying again unlocks everything straight away.
If an account stays unpaid for 90 days, we delete it and its records from our cloud. We'll warn you before that happens and remind you how to export everything. Records on your phone aren't touched.
7. Fair use
The price is set for normal use by one engineer. Please don't:
- share one account between several people, or resell or rent access to PATGo;
- try to get into anyone else's account or data, or get round the way accounts and plans work;
- overload, disrupt, copy, scrape or take apart the app or our systems;
- use PATGo for anything unlawful, or to store anything you have no right to hold.
There's no fixed limit on jobs or photos. If an account's cloud storage grows far beyond normal use, we'll get in touch first and agree a way forward with you — we won't make surprise charges or delete anything without talking to you.
8. Your records
- The records you make in PATGo are yours. We don't claim any ownership of them.
- You give us permission to store, copy and send them only so far as we need to run PATGo for you — for example, to sync them between your phones.
- How we handle personal information is set out in our privacy policy. Where your records hold your customers' details, we handle those on your behalf under our processor terms, which form part of these terms.
- It's up to you to have the right to hold your customers' details, and to tell them how you use them.
- You can export everything at any time (Settings → Backup & Restore → Export everything). We recommend keeping your own backups of anything important.
9. Your testing
PATGo is a tool for recording appliance tests and producing certificates. It doesn't test anything itself and it doesn't replace your training, your instruments or your judgement.
- You're responsible for carrying out tests properly, in line with the IET Code of Practice and any other rules that apply to your work.
- You're responsible for checking that every result, reading and certificate you issue is correct before you rely on it or hand it over.
- Features such as the readings check, retest reminders and Smart Quick Pick are there to help. They can be wrong or switched off, and they don't decide whether an appliance is safe.
10. The service
- We work hard to keep PATGo running and your data safe, but we can't promise it will always be available or free of faults. PATGo is built to work offline, so you can keep logging if our cloud or your signal is down.
- We update PATGo regularly. Features may change as it improves. If we make a change that takes away a substantial part of what you're paying for, you can cancel and we'll refund the unused part of your plan.
- We may need to pause the service briefly for maintenance or to fix a problem.
11. Liability
- Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can't be limited by law.
- We aren't liable for loss of profit, revenue, business, contracts or goodwill, or for any indirect or consequential loss.
- We aren't liable for any loss that comes from the way tests were carried out, or from results or certificates that weren't checked before they were relied on (section 9).
- Otherwise, our total liability to you for anything arising from PATGo is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
12. Ending your account
- You can close your account at any time by emailing us from the address you sign in with, as described in our privacy policy. Cancel your plan first if you don't want it to renew.
- We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms — for example by misuse under section 7. We'll tell you why and, unless the law or the risk of harm stops us, give you a chance to put things right and to export your records first.
- If we ever decide to stop running PATGo, we'll give you at least 60 days' notice and time to export everything.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example when PATGo gains new features. We'll change the date at the top, and for any change that matters we'll tell you in the app or by email at least 30 days before it applies. If you don't agree with a change, you can cancel before it applies and we'll refund the unused part of your plan.
14. Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales deal with any dispute. Please talk to us first — most things can be sorted with an email.
If any part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce something straight away, we can still do so later.
